ROCKFORD
      Mrs. John Rawdin and grand-daughter spent Tuesday of last week with Mrs. Roy Largent and family.
      Mrs. Ben Volkman spent Tuesday night and Wednesday with her husband and sons.
      Miss Florence Ulmer, who had the measles last week has recovered.
      The men on line No. 84 were out .....

.... last Thursday and made a new telephone line out of the old one.
      Wm. [William H. Y.] Ruwe and daughter, Mrs. Frieda Harmon were shopping Thursday morning.
      Ben Volkman and sons called on Mrs. Dan Krile and Mrs. Ben Volkman and daughter Dorothy, son Maurice Dale in Strasburg Wednesday evening.
      H. T. Wade was shopping in Strasburg last Wednesday.
      Mrs. Adolph Rawdin is in the hospital at Effingham. Although she is improving.
      Dorothy Volkman has returned home since a few weeks spent at her grandfather’s.
      Thomas Ulmer was visiting Sunday afternoon.
      Mr. and Mrs. Louis Krile and daughter of Mattoon and C. B. Kearney, wife and sons spent Sunday afternoon at Ben Volkman’s.
      Justine Beck spent Sunday with his [sic] stepfather, Charles Shanholtzer, and children.
      The first reported buzzard this spring was soaring the skies here Sunday morning. Old timers say it sure is a good sign of spring.
      Tom Ulmer assisted Ben Volkman with their butchering Saturday.
