ROCKFORD
      Miss Irene and Iona Lawrence were in Effingham Wednesday.
      Mr. and Mrs. John Strohl and Mrs. Roy Largent and daughter Norma Jeanne [Largent] spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Nick Eckhart.
      Harvey Wiley has purchased a tractor to do his summer farming.
      Mrs. Roy Largent and daughter Norma Jeanne [Largent] assisted Mrs. Theodore Lawrence and daughters quilt Thursday.
      Elmer Falk started his huckster trucks through here Thursday.
      Mrs. Claude Rawlings received a telegram from South Dakota Saturday, telling her of the unexpected death of her mother there.
      Charles Grant of Chicago spent Thursday night with Conn Fox and family. He lived in this vicinity several years ago. Claude Rawlings called on Roy Largent Sunday morning.
      Charles Harlan Jones spent Friday with his grandparents.
     Roy Largent called on his parents.
